Official Master's Degree in Audiovisual Translation

Access

Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements are as follows:
  • Graduates in Translation and Interpreting, Philology, East Asian Studies, the Humanities, Media Studies or equivalent degrees.
  • Accredit competence in the following languages:
    • English - Level C1 (except students holding a degree in Translation and Interpreting with English as Language B, or a degree in English Studies or equivalent)
    • Spanish - Level C2.2 (for translation into Spanish by foreign students)
    • Catalan - Nivel C2.2 (for translation into Catalan by foreign students)

Selection criteria

In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places, the allocation of places will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Previous qualification: 40%
    • Degree in Translation and Interpreting: 40%
    • Degree in Philology: 35%
    • Degree in East Asian Studies, Humanities, and Communication Sciences: 30%
  2. Academic record: 35%
  3. Knowledge of the master’s languages (English, Spanish, and Catalan) beyond the required level: 15%
  4. Professional experience in the field of audiovisual translation of at least two years, accredited by a company certificate or a list of companies and translated works in the case of freelance professionals: 10%

Complementary training

The bridging courses are subjects from the Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting. If the subjects indicated above as bridging courses are not yet scheduled, it will be necessary to take one or more of the following:

  • 101340.- Translation B-A 1 (English–Catalan) 6 ECTS (as an alternative to: 108387.- Creative Translation (English–Catalan) 6 ECTS)
  • 101341.- Translation B-A 1 (English–Spanish) 6 ECTS (as an alternative to: 108386.- Creative Translation (English–Spanish) 6 ECTS)
  • 101346.- Introduction to Specialized Translation B-A (English–Catalan) 5 ECTS (as an alternative to: 108395.- Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility (English–Catalan) 6 ECTS)
  • 101347.- Introduction to Specialized Translation B-A (English–Spanish) 5 ECTS (as an alternative to: 108394.- Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility (English–Spanish) 6 ECTS)
