Master description

The Master's degree in Applied Research in Economics and Business has a focus on applied research. It consists of 60 ECTS credits that are taken in two semesters over a single academic year. These 60 ECTS credits are distributed in two basic modules (30 credits), 15 optional credits, and another 15 credits corresponding to a master's degree dissertation

In the first semester, students take 30 common obligatory credits: methodological courses (Module 1: Quantitative Research Methods in Applied Research in Economics and Business) and another thematic module (Module 2: Applied Economics and Business), both of 15 credits. These two modules are offered to all students.

The second semester consists of one of two optional 15-credit modules (Advanced Topics in Entrepreneurship and SME Management, or Advanced Topics in Applied Economics). Finally, a master's degree dissertation (TFM) corresponding to the last 15 credits.

The two research areas of specialisation are:

Specialisation A) Research in Entrepreneurship and Management. The content of this area of specialisation is aimed at the theoretical and empirical analysis of the process of new business creation and management, particularly focusing on small and medium-sized companies, and their impact on economic and social development.

The content of this area of specialisation is aimed at implementing empirical analysis (based on sound theoretical insights) in different subfields of applied economics, including markets and public intervention, the economy and the environment, the process of development, the distribution of income, cities, migrations, gender and more
