PhD in Person and Society in the Contemporary World

Introduction

Person and Society in the Contemporary World is an updated and expanded version of the former PhD in Social Psychology. Its purpose is none other than to analyse and explore the intelligibility of social reality and of psycho-social phenomena and processes in terms of theory, application and methodology. Thus, through its research lines, it deals with thematic areas that influence personal relations in today's society: the role of science and technology in the forms of social organisation, healthcare and risk management, identity construction processes, the structuring role of work, the social impact of sport, and gender issues are some of the phenomena that, without doubt, would be quoted by any analyst as being of special importance for understanding modern society and people's behaviour. The PhD programme in Person and Society in the Contemporary World must therefore allow its students to develop a far-reaching vision of modern society and the role of individuals within it, so that they can conduct research that is innovative and sensitive to the interests and needs of the contemporary world.

Candidate profile

The student profile for this PhD programme in Person and Society in the Contemporary World is that of a graduate in a subject area related to psychology, anthropology, sociology, political science or any other of the social sciences. Applicants must also have a master's degree in one of the above areas of knowledge, preferably in psychosocial research and intervention. In addition, applicants' academic interests must coincide with the lines of research of the groups participating in this PhD programme.
