The UAB to boost its academic offer in English and interdisciplinary studies in 2021/22

The UAB will be offering new academic programmes in Artificial Intelligence and in Contemporary History, Politics and Economics, and will begin with a new bachelor's degree in Science, Technology and the Humanities, offered between Barcelona and Madrid by the Alliance 4 Universities. In addition, changes will be made to the bachelor's degree in English Studies and in Spanish Language and Literature.

Otters breed for second consecutive year in the Tordera basin

Otters have bred in the Tordera basis for the second year in a row, according to researchers of the “Otter monitoring and research project in the Besòs and Tordera basins” of the Rivus Observatory, coordinated by the ICTA-UAB and the Rivus Foundation.

3D biopsies to better understand brain tumors

Researchers at the INc obtained a highly accurate recreation of human glioblastoma’s features using a novel 3D microscopy analysis. The study, published in the journal Acta Neuropathologica Communications, provides new information to help with the diagnose, by finding therapeutical targets and designing immunotherapeutical strategies.


International consensus to spur the study of astrocytes in diseases of the nervous system

ICREA researcher from the INc Elena Galea has led a study, published in Nature Neuroscience, in which more than 80 international scientists have worked collectively to clarify definitions, nomenclatures, controversies, and upcoming goals in astrocytes research. A theoretical breakthrough that will accelerate the acquisition of knowledge about the involvement of these cells in diseases of the central nervous system.

Eight UAB researchers to receive ICREA AcadŔmia 2020 grants

Eight UAB researchers have been selected in the 12th edition of the ICREA Acadèmia grants to receive funding for their research activities during the following five years. The UAB is the university to have the highest number of researchers awarded a grant this year.


The UAB once again is awarded the HR Excellence in Research

The UAB once again receives the HR Excellence in Research award from the European Commission's Directorate General for Research and Innovation in recognition for its efforts in improving its human resource policies with regards to researchers.
